Book Club

  • With great power comes great responsibility and we take our responsibility very seriously. We like to find thought provoking novels that can prompt varied discussions and we love to champion Australian authors so we have some very firm rules around which all else can be flexible:

    • Australian literary fiction probably not written by the usual suspects. 

    • Published in the last 18 months.

    • Available as an audiobook.

    • Free from a public library near you.

  • No. You can buy direct from us but Books in the Brewery encourages you to access the book in any way that suits, whether that be from your local library, Audible or borrowed from your gran.

  • 98% yes. We really do read the book. This includes spoilers. But even if you abandoned the book half way come tell us why you felt that way. It makes for an even better discussion.

  • Our host will be on hand to greet you and guide you through the discussion. Everyone is encouraged to participate to their own comfort level and nobody is forced to answer any question.

  • Please do! Some people even feel less inhibited when they don’t know anyone else. Books in the Brewery is a safe and welcoming space for everyone. Making new friends is optional however.

  • Books in the Brewery is a free community event. Whilst our host partners are businesses you are under no obligation to buy anything.

  • Not at all. Our venues have alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to suit all tastes.

Subscriptions

  • Subscriptions are auto-renewing. You can choose to pay monthly, quarterly (every 3 months), or annually (every 12 months).

    Subscribe prior to the 14th of the month to receive the current Book of the Month, subscribe after this date and you’ll receive the following month’s book. If you’d like to receive the current month’s book after the 14th, please contact us.

    All subscriptions renew on the 24th of the month and are usually shipped within three business days.

  • All subscription payments will be debited on the 24th of the month due.

    Example: A quarterly subscription taken out on the 10th February will receive our Book of the Month for February, March and April with the next payment debited 24th April.

  • If you order prior to the 14th of the month your first box will usually be shipped immediately, featuring the current Book of the Month.

    If you order after this date you will receive the following month’s Book of the Month. E.g. If you place an order on 15th March, your first book will be April’s Book of the Month.

    If you would like to receive the current month’s book after the 14th, please contact us.

  • All subscriptions will be packaged and shipped via Australia Post in the last week of each month.

    Tracking numbers are provided for all items.

  • Books in the Brewery is based in Perth, Western Australia. Tracking numbers are provided for all items.

  • Yes. First log in to your account via the subscriptions page. Then click view next to your plan under the Subscriptions tab. From here you can pause and resume your subscription as needed.

  • Yes. First log in to your account via the subscriptions page. Then click view next to your plan under the Subscriptions tab. From here you can skip your next monthly, quarterly or annual instalment as needed.

  • Yes, please send us an email to arrange this.

  • You can cancel your subscription at any time via the Subscriber Login page.

    You will continue to receive your outstanding subscription boxes until your billing anniversary.
